Describe your premises
Large open store out of town shopping park. Back areas via 3 fire doors, and front entrance via automatic doors. Public car park run by the shopping park landlord. Retail for health & beauty for the general public. Capacity unknown to approximate = 200. Store is in the middle of other retailers, almost central in the park. Main front entrance x one. No public rear entrances, but 4 fire routes.
What type of terrorist attack is likely to occur at the premises?
Individual concealed weapons such as a knife. Vehicle from the car park could run into the main shop entrance, but bollards across the car parking spaces. Brick bas walls underneath large window areas. Parcel drops where Couriers at present drop parcels and photo, rather than gain a signature.
Have you identified relevant workers who must receive terrorism protection training and ensured it is provided to them?
Total team is 40 with 7 Pharmacists/Managers that are Duty Managers. Boots Fire, H&S and incident training. Electronic records that Management can access as well as Field Management. Boots Induction and e-learning training.
Who will put the plan into action in the event of an incident? How is the plan and relevant information being communicated to workers at the premises?
Store Manager and Assistant Manager, doesn't cover every hour in a week. So a Pharmacist here every opening hour.
Leaders from these people, and experienced Key holders.
Task 1 – Plan to warn people on the premises than an attack is taking place
Head sets for the team. Tannoy can be used for the public, as well as setting off the fire alarm.
We would need a script in place.
Task 2 – Plan to lockdown your premises
Lock the front public access with Store Keys. We could bring down the internal window shutters and bring down the entrance external shutter part the way down. Rear corridors have key pad locks for all 3 exits, but glass release "emergency box" at the door entrance from the public sales floor.
Key pad doors to the next floor up could provide extra security, or through the fire door to exit from the rear.
Team would know how to evacuate as they would in the event of a fire. Use fire doors to leave the building at the rear.
Task 3 – Plan to evacuate the premises
The plan would be the same as a fire evacuation, written plans and lists of marshalls are on the wall, and in the internal training plans/e learning.
Shopping park retailers would have to share their plans and we would too. Shopping park meetings for retailers and landlord can be arranged.
Task 4 - Plan to call the emergency services and relay the necessary information
Briefing would need extra training. Staff have phones to call 999. Alarms connected to Boots CMC - camera room that can also log into our system.
Task 5 – Use available first aid and fire safety equipment
First aid would be the Responsible Pharmacist on premises and 1st aid kits around the building. Kits are checked for complete items and in date on compliance checks via electronic app. No PAcT kits. Terrorism training would be required.
Task 6 – Consider how you tell your neighbours or local network aware of your plan and alert them in an attack
Premises - we could share via visits to the stores, WhatsApp group and Shopping park meetings. We would need to co-ordinate a shopping park plan.#
Phones can be used on the day, future shop radios are planned from the landlord.
This is the plan you created for priness alice – 13/01/2024. Once you have reviewed it, you should move on to step 4.
