Your Plan

Purecraft Bar and Kitchen – 28/11/2023

Location: Purecraft Bar and Kitchen

Completed by: Matthew Lockren

Describe your premises

A bar and restaurant in Birmingham city centre with a capacity of 300 people. The bar is next to Victoria square and has 2 levels (ground and basement). We have a front door, kitchen entrance and a rear fire escape.

What type of terrorist attack is likely to occur at the premises?

Knife attacks Fire/arson Bomb attack

Have you identified relevant workers who must receive terrorism protection training and ensured it is provided to them?

All management staff/shift leaders trained by the general manager, the information should be kept in the main office and computer. We have no recruitment plans currently.

Who will put the plan into action in the event of an incident? How is the plan and relevant information being communicated to workers at the premises?

I am responsible, in my absense both Assistant Managers will be responsible for all staff and customers on the site. All team members can implement the plan without seeking permission.

Task 1 – Plan to warn people on the premises than an attack is taking place

Music will immediately be turned off and a microphone can be used to alert all customer and staff over the speakers to any potential threat. The team flash the internal lights up and down to alert the wider staff that there is an incident then the shift leader will speak over the tannoy to alert all guests that there is a situation outside and we are locking the doors for their own safety.

Task 2 – Plan to lockdown your premises

The front door can be locked internally but a simple door lock, all other entrances/exits always remain locked from the outside, all staff have the permission to do this if they feel there is a treat. Customers will the be told to move to the lower level where there is less risk from external threats.

Task 3 – Plan to evacuate the premises

In the event of an evacuation we would communicate to everyone over the tannoy system that they need to move outside to the designated area (across the road at the top of the stairs to New Street). The team would act as support for anyone who needs our help quickly but calmy exiting the building.

Task 4 - Plan to call the emergency services and relay the necessary information

The shift leader has the responsibility to call 999 as soon as a threat is recognised.

Task 5 – Use available first aid and fire safety equipment

We have a PAct kit available and our first aid risk assessment is updated annually only the senor management have had first aid training and it's their responsibility to ensure any aid is given when needed. All refresher training is completed annually.

Task 6 – Consider how you tell your neighbours or local network aware of your plan and alert them in an attack

We currently have no ability other than call on a phone to alert our neighbours that there is an attack happening in our area.
